Actually we have a number of things to offer to each other in a relationship and those can be ...Pleasure, excitement, joy, interest, enthusiasm, relief and peace. In my opinion our ancestors have evolved and also traditional thinking and education have focused only in Pleasure and excitement (these are real pleasures but have very dangerous side effects of passionate sex and later depressions and boredom, these pressures are real but can result into huge responsibilities like pregnancies etc we can call it as tom and jerry show symptoms because to get out of depression we need invest more in another fit of excitement).....though it was important to continue life like this to make more babies and spread genes in chaos through pleasure and excitement in old ages and there was lots of war, famine and disease and mortality rate was very high in human being. However at these modern times by and large no one dies because famine, war and disease or rate of death as compare to birth is very low and there is population explosion on other hand cost of living has increased manifold and social complexities have also risen to great extents. Forgoing above we all are experiencing Tom and Jerry shows in our life because we are only cultivating pleasure and excitement. But if we will shift our focus on joy, interest, enthusiasm, relief and peace then scenarios of relationship will change
